Round Eight: Manny Pacquiao vs Erik Morales Mailbag!

Kimo Morrison - 2-14-2005

Welcome to Round Eight of the Manny Pacquiao vs Erik Morales Mailbag.

Round One
Round Two
Round Three
Round Four
Round Five
Round Six
Round Seven

Juncay: I would like to ask the Ramil4002 question to Kimo. WHAT IF MANNY KO'S MORALES IN EARLY ROUND, WHAT WOULD YOU DO? This type of question and answer (by Isaac) just reminds me of a political figure here in our country, when she said "I'll jump out of the plane".

Kimo Morrison:

Collect money earlier than expected and head home to wife for a "little" surprise!

Marlon Alipio: Erik Morales is a great warrior, no question about that. The only problem is that he doesn't have the attitude of a true gentleman. With the way he acted when Marco Antonio Barrera reached out for him. There's no excuse for that kind of attitude. While on the other hand, Manny Pacquiao on all of his interviews, he is very down to earth and offers everything to God and to his countrymen. That's the true spirit of a true champion. No matter what the outcome of this fight may be... Manny Pacquiao will still be the champion in most of peoples' hearts. Thank you!!!

Kimo Morrison:

I agree with you and that is one reason I personally have never really cared for Erik, he has never really grown past the angry young punk fighter stage.

DODO NIMANNY: I say that if Morales started slow in the early rounds and Pac starts to pound him right from the start, Morales won't be able to get his composure in the late rounds and Pac will continue to dominate him.

Morales, in his last three fights have not been as great as he was early in his career.

Would you think, Morales would use a different tactic this time around against Pac? Or would Pac be the one who would use a different game plan...

Kimo Morrison:

If Morales was smart he would go out and try to get the first respect and -try- backing Pac up taking him out of his element which is constantly coming foreward.

EDWIN GONZALES: I would be leaning towards Morales if I knew his damn game plan...Though Morales possesses great boxing skills we all know his biggest flaw...He brawls when its not necessary that is evident versus Chavez and Hernandez...My question to you is...do you think this fight will last 6 rounds? Do you REALLY think Morales is not going brawl and use Marquez's blueprint on how to beat Pac?...Or do you think what I believe...Morales prides himself on his Mexican warrior mentality so this fight will not be a boxing match but instead its going to be a train wreck?...Pacquiao fans...you guys are great Pacman fans and I respect that...I sometimes check out the Pacland site and forums and it overwhelms me how you guys adore support your national...but a lot of you fellas needs to keep things in PERSPECTIVE!!!

Kimo Morrison:

This is exactly what I have been saying will be Erik's downfall, his EGO... if he could stay away from it for just ONE night and be the smart fighter instead of the hot head that he is, he would not have trouble with this fight at all IMO.

Raul Fernandez: All Filipinos now have something to talk about finally in a great fighter in MP, what I don't understand is how all of them think that MP will destroy EM. In my mind there is no way that MP can fight inside against EM, if he does he will be slowly dissected my more talented EM. PAC has one chance, his straight left from his punching range. Aside from that there is no other punch that can hurt Morales enough to knock him down, let alone out. Morales need to balance his attack using outside jabs and right hand varieties from a distance, to inside upper-cuts and body shots on the inside, this and much more he will do to PAC and show why "MEXICANS" produce their best pound-for-pound fighters in the world!

Kimo Morrison:

There is a left hook to the body that has been growing in popularity and it is one that could hurt Erik if he is not careful.

Ali: To all of you, happy viewing there... We all know that EMs is not an ordinary fighter; he's a real warrior... We've watch him in some big fight and he deserves to be a pound for pound list of fighters.. To Manny, well all I can say is to "Stay Focus" and as much as possible don't give EM's big confidence about the fight...

Kimo Morrison:

Well said Ali...thank you

PACFAN ATIC: Although I visit pacman's web-site every single day, I think the EM-MP fight is still a toss up. I would say that the odds favor Pac extremely slightly, say, 51-49. We Pac fanatics should not view the fight as a forgone conclusion. A similar mega-fight down memory lane comes to mind. Remember how the hit man Hearns mauled the venerable Duran? I see some parallelism with the EM-MP fight.

Kimo Morrison:

How about Hagler/Hearns? But I agree and am glad to see a not so ADEMENT Pac-fan in being open to the idea that he is vulnerable to many of Erik's stronger points.

triskelion: let A=manny; B=Barerra; C=Erik then, if A>B and B>C which statement is true? or false? A>C or C=A or C>A? That simple logic will tell you the truth of the probability. If however, you are not aware about reasoning, forgive me because all what you've said are to be tested hypothetically. If you are in favor of Erik simply because of the bullshit belief that Erik is more experienced fighter, that's a null hypothesis.

Kimo Morrison:

As I see it, it has nothing to do with "logic" as you call it. Fighting is not algebra to be worked out to an exact science every time or this shit wouldn't even be fun. I have said it before but for you will say it again...A fight NEVER goes down the way it is intended by either side due to each and every man being a different entity all together. There is nothing easier to explain a fight in the true sense of the form than "Chaos". Or Murphy's Law if you will (if I am correct with this) What can go wrong will go wrong.

XO Jack: We all know that PACMAN has been calling EM a couple of years ago for this fight and negotiations with him collapsed for no apparent reason(s). My question is, what do you think the main reason why EM decided to face PACMAN this time? Is it because he wants to prove something (to MAB) or is it just because he has lost his belt to MAB already and nothing to worry anymore of losing a title in the event the PACMAN defeats him come March 19? Thanks and more power!

VIVA MEXICO....PAMPANGA!!!

Kimo Morrison:

I have wondered the same thing, maybe it is because he didn't feel that he had the juice to bang with Pac at a lower weight anymore as he got older and it was harder to maintain that weight, and now he is fighting him at what he believes to be his advantage being the bigger man...or just plain and simply a timing issue...hard to say but he must have his reasons, good question.

gnbspop: Has MAB issued any statements as to who would come up as the winner n this fight? He has fought both these guys , I was thinking he's in the best position to come up with an analogy...

Kimo Morrison:

I do believe that he has gone with his countryman in this bout

Al Fernendez: Will there be a problem on what brand of gloves will they use in their upcoming fight? What brand of gloves each fighter prefers to use? Thanks.

Kimo Morrison:

I don't think it will matter, but I know that if there is a discrepancy it will likely come from the Morales side of things as I am sure that Pac will say that it doesn't matter which glove he hits him with he'll knock him out.

Hugo Velasco: I don't see it how pacman fans do. I don't see pacman going in the ring and embarassing Morales.Once Pacman tastes leather he will think twice about trying to run in on Morales. Morales will win by late ko

Kimo Morrison:

I think you have as good a chance at being correct as any of the rest of us, though I think if you reverse those names you'll have it right. Pac-late KO LOL

RUFFY: IF EM SHOULD LOSE THIS FIGHT, WHATS NEXT FOR HIM?

Kimo Morrison:

You know, a lot of people say retirement, but truly he is still fairly young, though battle worn, but if he feels fit to fight, think there is many good fights out there for him -should- he lose this coming bout.

mhaylove: I pray not. but what if instead Erik knocked you out what are your next plans.

Kimo Morrison:

Erik would have to bring a lot more game than he has to knock me out, in fact he better bring, all the rest of the Mexi-bunch along with Pac if them little in's even think they hold a snowballs chance in hell of making a dent in this thick boneheaded Hawaiian dome of mine. But, hypothetically if HE DID? I would then commit Hari Kari while overdosing on Heroin and jumping out of a plane simultaneously!!! And the world would be rid of me...

gerry maniac: I think pacman will win between 6-8 rounds being a hungrier and aggressive fighter. i always have respect to Morales but I think pacman, as most often times the underdog perceived by the foreigners, will gain the sweet victory.

Kimo Morrison:

me too...

Arcane Saiyan Zero: What if in the 12th round of the fight...? Morales lands his uppercut and Pacquiao with his straight left and they both go down almost out? Who do you think will win? Erik's big heart and experience or Manny's stamina and conditioning?

Kimo Morrison:

If it comes down to that brother!!!! I don't care I just want to see it cause they both deserve it!

Rick: They are both at the prime of their boxing career. EM a little bit older; however it will boil down to conditioning and expect them made all their preparation. In general Pacman has a slight advantage, by 6-8 rounds fight will end.

Kimo Morrison:

yes, you may be correct, though I think it will go a tad longer...

Cindelle: Why is it that it is already Pacman and El Terrible who are fighting? What happen to Marquez?

Kimo Morrison:

He pussed out cause he knew he'd get dropped and saved himself the humiliation.

Erwin Arpon: After so many analization has been laid out whether who is going to win between Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales? In your opinion who do you think will come out victorious after careful evaluation between the two??

Kimo Morrison:

I have said but for you I will say again...Pac, KO in the Championship rounds.

Mossimo: I think a superb conditioning and training will emerge on this bout, however after we have witness the fight I believe we would all tell ourselves they are both winners! whew, I couldn't wait, El Terrible meeting the Bruce Lee look alike ;)

Kimo Morrison:

Bruce was not that goofy looking bradda!!! LOL

Jebb: Hi! What do you foresee if Pacman beats the three great Mexican fighters, E. Morales, A. Barrera and JM Marquez? What will the future hold for the Pacman in this scenario? Whom will be a good match-up for him if he moves up or down weight divisions? Thanks and more power!

Kimo Morrison:

I'd like to see him rematch MAB first and if he wins that, the door is open, but I think moving up will be a mistake. Casamayor would be another tough bout, but he should definitely stay out of 135 as he will get hen pecked and wrecked if he were to make that jump.

Denzoy: Personally I like both boxers because of their styles and the way they fight. but in this "BRING IT ON" who would you prefer to win? Why? and what round could be?

Kimo Morrison:

"Bring it on!" favors Pac due to him being the better head to head let'em fly till ya die puncher with a bit better of a beard.
