Lakeshow9: Do u think come fight time the odds will sway to favor the already established and bigger known name in Morales ? making the payout for those taking Manny Pacquiao better ?

Kimo Morrison:

Man, those guys mess with the numbers to best fit themselves and I feel as though it will depend on a great number of things...so I don't know to be honest.

Tae Namo:

Hello!

Who did you pick on the Marco Antonio Barrera and Manny Pacquiao fight? How about the JMMarquez and Pacquiao fight? So who are you going to pick on March 19 fight? I like Morales chances here, if he's gonna survive through round 8....or if it goes to the scorecards....I think somebody's gonna get robbed...LOL

Kimo Morrison:

I picked MAB for 1st and Pac for 2nd and picking Pac to win this fight as well though can see it going in the way of Morales if he fights a near perfect fight.

Hanz: comparing MP's fight attitude over EM is that MP has the courage to invest in eartly rounds and EM hurrying in the late rounds. I think that was the reason why EM lost to MAB in their last fight. If that happens again i think MP will will win in decision, and if EM try to even MP in the early rounds, then the fight will result to an early finish which i think MP will benefit more in the end.

Kimo Morrison:

I agree with your take on this other than an early finish.

Jako Lero: como estas Se??

Do you think Morales will go toe to toe with Pacquiao? I think he should if he wants to knockout Pacquiao and he will not win this fight if he'll just fight outside cautiously or what they say, exploit his reach advantage...you see EM's jab will not be effective against Pacquiao since he move his head like a freakin' windshield wiper from rnd 1 to 12...

Kimo Morrison:

Ha Ha Ha "windshield wiper from 1-12" that's great! and true! I don't think a rangy fight benefits Erik either and as I have said all along, too win, he must stick to him like glue smothering him and even go so far as to get dirty every chance he has. That is the only way I see him winning. But I see his ego making him stand and trade which will be his demise.

Kan Tutero:

Hello there!

Who do you think has the adavantage between the two fighters on the following categories?

1. Boxing skills
2. Experience
3. Speed
4. Punching Power
5. Stamina
6. Chin/Jaw
7. Physical - EM has obvious advantage here being taller and has a longer reach.

Gracias Amigo!

Kimo Morrison:

1EM...2EM...3MP...4Equal when both at their best 5MP...6Equal 7...taller and longer not always advantages...ask any of the fighters who fought Tyson in his prime.

Pining Garcia: Hi! Do you think this fight will go over 9 rounds? The bookmakers put Pacquiao as the favorite, what do you think their basis for this? Was the line dictated by the betting public or the boxer's edge? Thanks!

Kimo Morrison:

I think it will go a bit longer than 9 and think the betting public dictated the line.

Charles: I have read that the sparring mate of Pacman is Israel Vasquez and a guy name Sugar Beltran which he bruised under his eyelid with head gear on. Who is Israel Vasquez and Sugar Beltran? Are they both mexicans? And If Pacman bruised someone's eyelid with head gear on, how hard does this guy hit? Thanks and more power!

Kimo Morrison:

Vasquez is better known than Beltran in the public eye and is a solid fighter in his own right. Also, if headgear now covers the eyelid, then I have missed the new style of gear. Hurting a guy or knocking one out with head gear on is not as uncommon as you may think. It helps, but in no way does it totally absorb all of the punch. He punches pretty hard from what I gather, but will know better when I see him first hand next week in LA, and hear that he is not the BIGGEST puncher in the gym!

Mark: Freddie Roach mentioned that if Manny would use his right more and as relax as he uses his left he could be more devastating. I think he's right. I've seen all of manny's fights and there was this fight(against Arnel Barotillo, an Australian based Filipino boxer), when he was still campaining at the lower division, when he injured his left during practice. Nobody knew about it exept team Pacquiao and come fight night viewers noticed that Manny was a little bit awkward with his left. He almost never used it - I think he never did..Literally, he was a one hand fighter..Barotillo dominated the fight from 1st to 3rd round. In the middle of 4th round manny unleashed two rights smack to Barotillo's face and that it...the fight was over..After the fight team Pacquaio revealed that manny's left was injured...I believed that both of manny's hands are devastating...He only needs more practice with his right..

Kimo Morrison:

This is true as he is very left dominate.

jaymez: hei.. im an avid fan of Pacman but i really dont understand why others think that Pac can knock out El Terrrible in early rds. have they 4gotten that Morales is the best mexican fighter today? for sure Morales is a warrior ad cant be counted out.. as for Pacman, i really think that this cud be his great chance if he want to be on top of the world. he shud stuck on his master's, Roach, fight plan.. Beating Morales will be his stepping stone to bring back glory to our country, the Philippines. THE BOXING FANS WILL BE THE ULTIMATE WINNER IN THIS FIGHT!THANKS AND MORE POWER!!!

Kimo Morrison:

I DO think that Pac Fans are SERIOUSLY underestimating Erik which is why I have been rather harsh on the ones that seem SO cock sure that Pac will NOT LOSE.

ripmotor: if in case manny loses(doubt that would happen though);), what would be next for him? could he possibly get a rematch with morales, barerra, or marquez? coz i feel anyone who's tasted his power would be hesitant to fight him again. such was the case with barerra and marquez. come on, cut the bullshit, they were scared to get back in the ring with manny! i'm thinking manny would have a hard time getting a big fight if ever he loses against morales...

Kimo Morrison:

If he loses to Erik I think the rematches with both of the others will come that much easier as they will both think that he will be vulnerable. Yes I think they were leery of getting right back in the ring with a man that canned 'em. Have you ever been canned? You may be leery as well no matter how tough you were the thought will always loom in the back of your mind.

Rik: I agree with EM fans about him utilizing his technical skills for this fight. He is a great boxer, but he is also a hot head. I guarantee MP will try to get EM's blood boiling and have him carelessly step into a war. I predict Pacman in the later rounds, but if El Terrible is able to keep his cool and box rather than fight, Manny will have a difficult fight. Do you agree?

Kimo Morrison:

Yes,...whole heartedly, but cannot see Erik keeping his cool in with a guy who will surly catch him good a few times and ring that bell that sets the fire!

Mark: What do u think are WEAKNESSES of MP and EM that may greatly determine the outcome of the fight?

Kimo Morrison:

EM's temper, and MP's tunnel vision.

XO Jack: In your honest opinion, who do you think will gonna win this war?

Kimo Morrison:

Pac

Gerry G: It's anybody's game - this pacman-terible fight! These advantages and disadvantages we're talkin about is nothin. The winner will always be the better prepared, the more determined, delivered the most effective punches and with LUCK! I'll just have to fix my tv, cancel all appointments, buy snacks, invite friends and enjoy the fight on D-Day! Its gonna be one hell of a fight!!!

Kimo Morrison:

Oh yes sir it will and I agree with you

Jose: I've seen the fight of morales/barrera.barrera took d fight over morales, but EM seems slow and thats i think pacquiao is going to take advantage with. he got that tremendous handspeed and power! 3 rnds. is too long for EM to stay in the ring. I guess?

Kimo Morrison:

This will be a different Erik Morales I assure you and I think that this fight will last more than 3 rounds.

Paolo: What's the next fight/career move if ever Manny Pacquiao loses.

Kimo Morrison:

I see MAB at the end of either road...winning or losing.

observer: Good day to you sir! first of all, thank you for publishing my questions at EM and PAC'S Mailbag. I would say that Morales has the best straight short right hand in the business. Attacking him head on would be a mistake for anybody. But if the threat is coming from the sides (any side), he always have a hard time parrying the attack. His pivot is not that good, he's a bit slower now, and his best defense is to throw hammers and thongs at the same time. I have this funny feeling that a right hook followed by a left uppercut by Pacquiao will finish the job. Any comments?

Kimo Morrison:

A right hook followed by a left uppercut is far too complex for Pac as well as him being far too unbalanced to throw such a combo. But would be interesting if he were to accomplish it. Erik's footwork has always proven sluggish which is why he is so easily caught up with but his upper body movement is good and his chin better which will prove to be a lot better than most are giving him credit for.

Aurelio: I just want to let you know what makes Pacquiao win big fights...Speed and power and I know you all know that...but one thing people don't mention much is the IN AND OUT! haha Barrera is a hooker and loves to throw uppercuts but did not work against Pacquiao because Pacquiao would throw straight lefts and once his opponents countered Pacquiao is already out of their sight using his powerful legs...Morales might be able to hit Pac with some uppercuts and hooks coming in but not by much...Morales will be hit with many straight lefts. Pacquiaos left is still underrated right now...I think fans should see how Pacquiao destroys his opponent with a one-two...If Klitschko changes the fight with his straight right...Pacquiao changes the fight with his fast IN and OUT!

Kimo Morrison:

I missed the "IN and OUT" against Marquez though...but do know what you are talking about in what is called a quick engaging and disengaging ability. The reason it works so well is for this reason. If a fighter (A) can bypass another's (B) targeting range quicker than B can pull the trigger to hit A then immediately B has a complete loss of comfortable range to let A remain before he throws a punch. This often makes fighters like B throw too early trying to time A coming in and leaves him open to counters often being off balance. This then gives A another advantage in B not wanting to throw at all due to punishment and from here on out is usually a matter of time. Now a fighter that reads these faster ones well and KNOWS how to time them right can usually fend off the faster A enough times to make him second guess his own engaging speed.

Unanmed: Em has to get that long right hand to Pac's body to slow him down and eric is a good body puncher. JMM has solid POWER if he can ROCK Pac after being down trice that's good power.

Kimo Morrison:

You are right in saying EM must attack the body but wrong in saying JMM "Rocked" him in my eyes...he caught him a few times and even knocked him off balance but never did he "ROCK" him. And that's not good power, that is GREAT conditioning is what that is.

bg: hello there kimo. my advice for morales is make sure keeps his eyes open because if don't see the pacman's left straigth, it's good night erik... manny k.o. erik 8rd

Kimo Morrison:

Good advice my friend...

Ruben: Everyone talks of Manny's power advantage over EM (and I agree PAC hits harder). But I actually think that the deciding factor of the fight will be how well each can handle each other's power. EM has a rock solid chin and PAC's is solid but still unproven. I say in order for EM to win he needs to land some solid uppercuts and box. If Morales has any inclination to brawl and keep the fight close, Manny will have a big advantage. This is going to be a great fight and I'm rooting for the PAC to take the fight.

Kimo Morrison:

I would say yes Erik's has a rock solid chin, but it is his conditioning that has always been what caused most of his fights to be close when they got physical and that is when a great chin can do you no good...if the body says NO MORE.

MiGgY: Rommel B. Dy: Pacquiao should won by knockout because I know if the boxer is coming from Asian country they have the chance to win in Decision. So for the judge will go for the score. Don't be Bias... - Bias?? Need a mirror??...Any pacman fan here who can give intelligent comments??? If there is one, email me at migzraqueno@yahoo.com -

Kimo Morrison:

You think that the judges in Vegas will be more prone to giving a decision to Pac than Erik? Not last I checked...but depends on who is paying the bills.

Angel:

Kimo,
All this talk about a KO in this fight is ridiculous fantasy. Any boxer knows that you can't expect a KO in your fights, they just come. That being said, everyone's predicting offense VS. offense in the EM/MP fight which is stupid. EM has got serious counter-punching skills that are being overlooked because of his wars with MAB. EM and MAB went toe-to-toe because of their respective disdain and hate for each other. EM can and should employ his counter-punching/boxing ring generalship and pound the body over the first half of the fight. Stay away from MP's straight left and hooks from both hands, even if it means at the expense of "losing" some of those rounds. When MP gets desperate in the latter rounds, and a little tired from all that chasing EM can use his power punching abilities to frustrate and ultimately wear down PM to go on and win by decision. Whether or not this will happen, I don't see any other way EM can win this fight. He won't win by standing there trading. JMM tried, and almost got KTFO'd. 3K tried and got cracked! At this weight, the PacMan is deadly. The only way to beat him is to box, wear, and frustrate him. The only chink in PacMan's game is his inablility to close off the ring. When he does try, he gets hit cleanly with counter-punching shots that expose the leftside of the body and overhand rights to the top of the head. What are your thoughts?

Kimo Morrison:

I agree and disagree both...I think that -YES- Pac follows and doesn't cut the ring off, and yes to expect a KO is stupid, and YES think that Erik is a GREAT counter puncher BUT Manny will not have to CHASE him as he is not a fast fleetly footed counter puncher that moves with great speed backing up. He usually counters from a slower 1 or 2 step drop...then attack 1or 2 back. Then attack. He will have more pressure than he has ever had before and will only be able to counter effectively with an inside game fighting Pac close like he did with Carlos Hernandez never giving Carlos the chance to get those powerful punches off because Erik was all over him like white on rice. You will see, if Erik wins this bout it will be in this manner. If he stays on the outside, Manny will bypass his counterpunching because Manny is too fast for Erik and put WAY too much pressure for a guy that is better at countering when feet are set. Marquez countered him will in retreat and by timing Pac, Erik can not punch backing up rapidly and if he attempts this method will get KTFO himself. Only my opinion.

Loyd Fabro: I just want to say that Pacquiao will Destroy Morales I'm sorry to say. Pacquiao is just not from this planet. I know he was exposed in the Marquez fight but man I don't think there's anymore exciting fighter than Pacquiao. If Barrera and Morales or gatti are all exciting well Pacquiao is the new level of exciting. I just want to say that Pacquiao is the draw for this fight I know Morales is also but Pacquiao is more of the draw do you agree?

Kimo Morrison:

Yes I do that Pac is the draw but it is who he is fighting that makes it more interesting. Where this no name 130lb fighter we would not be having this discussion would we...It takes two to tango!

Dino Nitorreda: I know Morales can hit hard, but I still think he's just too slow for Manny. In his last fight against Barrera, he allowed Marco to hit him with his power punches. Although Erik has a very powerful jab, and he has a decent reach advantage against pac, he's just too slow. In this fight, I expect a very different Morales. He will try to use his height and reach advantage to slow down pac. And in order to slow down Manny, he needs to fight intelligently. But Erik's pride will cause his downfall in this fight. If he decides to slug it out with Manny, he will kiss the canvas! Marquez in my opinion, is the only one in their division who can match Manny's attack because of his incredible hand speed and counter punching ability. Forget about Barrera and Morales. In their division, speed is evrything. And that is something they will learn from Manny. But if Manny moves up to fight guys like Mayweather, it's going to be very difficult for him. Guys like Mayweather and Castillo are much bigger than Manny. But if ever he decides to move up, do you think his kamikaze style will still be as effective considering that his opponents are now much bigger and are more powerful?

Kimo Morrison:

No, I think he could maybe move up MAYBE one more division and even there I think he runs into some brick walls. 135 would be it for Pac, and who knows maybe 130 will be too much...we won't know till fight night.

victor: styles makes boxing and EMs styles is tailormade for pacman wich definitely cannot withstand the power of left hand of pacman comes fight night

Kimo Morrison:

I think that it is his ego that is more tailor-made for Pac's fight style than anything. If not for his constant desire to stand and trade with any man that hits him flush pissing him off, this would not even be an exciting fight.

melvit rogan: With pacquiao's dream and eagerness to face EM, and the way he prepare hard going to his biggest fight og this year, i think manny will end up the winner. He's been up to fighting taller and biggger fighters before like MAB, and it shows that he was able to counter all that because of his No Fear attitute. Manny is hungrier, he has the power and speed that can over come EM's exeperience. No offense to the mexican fans, but i beleive; this coming fight night, it will be a good fight as what the two great boxers had promised. MABUHAY KA MANNY!

Kimo Morrison:

I don't know HOW HUNGRY Erik is after losing to MAB...it may have ignited something in him as well...but the power and speed will come into effect if Erik lets it.

clence: Im an avid fan of Pacman. Morales is also my idol after Pacman. My question is, do u think there will be Pac vs EM II or III, just like MAB vs EM

Kimo Morrison:

Could be...depends on how this fight ends up.

marc: is this the first time EM ever said to a boxer that he respects him (manny). coz we all know that he said terrible things to MAB even if MAB is also one of the best fighter in the boxing world right now?

Kimo Morrison:

No, he said the same to Carlos Hernandez too when I watched him in an interview and if he treats him with the same respect in the ring, it could be a long night for all Pac fans watching Erik, climb over Pac like an octopus not letting him breath let alone throw punches.

elizer asuque: Kimo Morrison: In your prediction, what could be the outcome of this fight?

Kimo Morrison:

Manny winning by TKO in round 11.

Maria Cristina Sy-Santo Tomas: In Em's fight against Carlos Hernandez and Barrerra, I cannot see any zeal and aggressivenes for Morales..All I can see is technical boxing skills and that's all..I think Pacquiao will knockout Morales in this fight..Although I'm a Chinese Mestiza and my father is a half-Mexican, I am born here in the Philippines therefore I root for Pacquiao..I do not really want Pac's style but I can see his effort and his will to win by which I cannot see in the now-turned sluggish and idle Morales..

Kimo Morrison:

Very well put, but knowing that the public thinks him washed up, Erik may have revived motivation to make us all look dumb.

ANDY DE GUZMAN: i can't help but be amused by the "monickers" great (though sometimes even the not so great gets one) fighters tend to acquire as they go through this "beakbusting" business of boxing. We've heard about "EL TERRIBLE", "BABY FACE ASSASIN", "GOLDEN BOY", among others. Surely, these greats got these names for a reason and am pretty certain each one of them has interesting stories or trivias to tell about having them. We'll I have one for our very own MANNY PAQUIAO! People call him a lot of names but I'm sure all his fans agree that "PACMAN" and "THE DESTROYER" top the list. And rightly so! How can anybody deny the destructive power of his left straight (and come March 19, if Freddie Roach makes good on his promise, even his right straight!). As for "PACMAN", need I say more, besides his uncanny ability to goble up opponents like the computer game character, am sure you noticed it's a cute play on his name. We'll, his many Filipino fans may know this already but for the rest, did you know that there is a Pilipino word "PAKYAW" (this is pronounced exactly like PAQUIAO)which means to "HOARD" or to "TAKE EVERYTHING"? So guys BRING THEM ON because PAPAKYAWIN lahat yan ni PAQUIAO (PAQUIAO WILL TAKE THEM ALL)!

Kimo Morrison:

And he very well may!

Octave Bellar: Manny boxed stronger than Eric. Eric is a boxer. Can Eric avoid the hands of Manny all through out the 12 round? How can he do it. May be he will just ran.. ran.. and box. But that is not the boxing style of Eric. Would he chose to mix it up with Manny?

Kimo Morrison:

He can not run all night, he must either smother him or he loses by KO.

zean: how true is it that jmm prized himself coz he doesnt want to fight the pacman again.

Kimo Morrison:

Very true in my eyes but you would have to ask him for the real answer.

M.CRAWFORD: PAC-MANS SPEED WILL BEWILDER THE BRAVE MORALES. EM HAS THE REACH &WT. IT WONT BE ENOUGH. ONLY EM S HEART & EXRERIENCE WILL ENABLE HIM TO LAST INTO THE LATER RDS. I LIKE PAC-MAN TO TKO & BLUDGEON THE HISPANIC ,10-11 RDS. PRINCE OF PUGILISTIC PROGNOSTICATION : MICHAEL D. CRAWFORD

Kimo Morrison:

We see this in the same light my good friend! Exactly the same light.

pat: hi i just wanna know if that high altitude training of morales will really help him come fight night?and whats the advantage and disadvantage of altitude training with boxing?

Kimo Morrison:

This is easy to understand but hard to explain so bear with me. Trying to make it short the body adapts to having less oxygen at high altitudes thus is more efficient with dispersal to fatigued muscles through lungs and muscles adapt also needing less energy to rejuvenate. When coming to normal altitude come fight time the oxygen rich air virtually drowns the lungs with Oxygen making it less exertive for the lungs to fill demand to muscles and you don't have to breathe as hard or fast to catch breath when exerting energy. Making a less winded fighter more conditioned to go longer. I hope I explained that in a way that you could understand. There is no negative qualities to training at high altitude though I don't think that it will weigh heavily in this fight because the more energy Erik has the more he will expend early, he just gives everything he has ALL the time and though is great for us, often makes for close fights late when he tires.

lar: mr. kimo, do you think the manny pacquiao/morales fight will end until 12rounds. on my opinion the fight will ended in 6th round esp. how both fihter box in the ring. pacman by ko(6)

Kimo Morrison:

I think it will end in the 11th but who knows you may be right.

Marvin: I believe that manny will this fight by a late round KO..Pacman has a big advantage on speed and power but El Terrible have his own advantage in height and reach.. Eric must be alert when manny unload his left straight because it always comes from the blind side..if erik relaxes and hit by that straight punch, he may hit the canvas and it will give pacman a chance to finish the fight or if not can boost his confidence through the end of the fight..although i believe that if erik made a great counter punching and unloads some uppercuts while manny is throwing his left straight (because manny have a bad habit of being careless when he throws that punch) then erik can win the fight..but i'm wondering if erik has still the power of the past when he destroys a lot of great fighters..but in my opinion the speed and power will be the big point here and will over turn the reach advantage of morales.. One of the worst habit of erik is that if he's hit by his opponent he had a natural reflexes that he stands toe to toe and become reckless..and if he do that against manny then he will have the worst night of his life... my question is, can erik absorb the left straight of manny?? can he also stand and fight back like JMM did when he was hit the canvass three times?? i need your opinion..but for my opinion i think any body in 125, 130, and 135 lbs will hit the canvass if they are hit by the left straight of PACMAN..i admire JMM for still standing after demolished in the 1st round by PacMan...i dont think erik have the chin like that or even MAB..thank you and more power!!!!

Kimo Morrison:

I admire JMM as well and that was heart, pride, and mostly conditioning that played into that survival. As well as the best ref in the game for any other would've stopped the bout. Erik CAN take the punch, but how many times is the question, and how many times will he allow Pac to hit him before he changes game plan? Only time will tell.

Batang: If the Pacman dominated EM on their March 19 fight, do you think he can stand a chance against the best boxers above super featherweight? I know Manny packs a wallop that can send a middleweight to dreamland. Can he carry it there?

Thanks a lot and more power!!!

Kimo Morrison:

Hell NO! Not even the 2nd tier middleweights would have problems with handling his power. He may be able to move up one more division, but even there I feel that he will meet a lot more fighters that will not only be able to take his punch be floor him with their own as well. And 140...fugett about it! He would fall to any number of fighters in that talent rich division.

Ice Bariuan: Im a huge Pacman fan, but nevertheless, i must give due respect to Eric Morales. this man will not be regarded as one of the best fighter in the world if he is just another fluke. Manny packs the bigger punch but even the best and strongest boxers succumb to lesser fighter sometimes. and eric morales is no lesser fighter, im a filipino and ill be rooting for pac come fight night but i thing moreles deserves some respect here.

Kimo Morrison:

I am glad to see a knowledgeable Pac fan that gives Erik more respect than he has been getting by fans that seem to never have seen him fight thinking that he has NO chance in beating a fighter like Manny.

khymlex: Manny will beat EM. If not koed in 5th, EM will most likely loose coz he will not even try to box Pacman. After suffering from 1st round of unstoppable shots from manny, EM will sure stay away. And Manny will win in UD. 120-105! Do you agree

Kimo Morrison:

No I don't...sorry.

Kimo Morrison "Pangit" Santos:

HI Kimo or Isaac...Buenas Tardes con Te Amo...

I would like to ask if Morales' height could prove to be a predicament because Pac has a lot of room to shower EM with his powerpunches...EM has the height advantage, but PAC prefers the taller ones because he has the the advantage of higher-landing percentage...

I would just like to clarify that Manny Pacquiao has no legitimate losses because his two losses were null because he is overweight therefore his handlers force him to vomit and cut his hair just to cut his weight...his two draws were void too...he drew with Sanchez because Sanchez is a dirty ugly-looking fighter while Pac is injured but clinged to the end in his fight against Marquez....

I hope you answer my question, amigo! Im Perero Sy- Garcia...A Mexican..

Kimo Morrison:

I think the taller the better for Pac, especially if he goes to the body correctly, and being as fast as he is, can get inside those longer-not so tight anymore punches by Morales. But if he uses this height and arm length correctly by using it in a smothering fashion, it works to his advantage.

Handsome_slasher: if manny wins against EM and JMM priced himself out again to avoid Pac. what will be the next logical thing to do for PAC? vie for the IBF Super Featherweigth Crown? with whom?

Kimo Morrison:

The next best thing for Pac even before JMM is Barrera for money and title.

ferdinand barrias: If manny beats EM, it will be a great upliftment for us Filipinos! He will be a true inspiration! But if he loses, i really dont care much coz he is still very young and can improve a lot more! So, win or lose i think MP is our modern day hero! May the force be with our PAC!

Kimo Morrison:

Yes, it is win, win for Pac in this fight.

triskelion: can the new management of pacman give a successive quality fights without financial jeopardy against manny>?

Kimo Morrison:

Not in my opinion...

Gem Cadiz: I am from the Philippines and I have seen most of Manny fights even when he was in the lighter division. Manny is not a technical fighter like Morales, Pac is a fighter plain and simple, he will always attack and his understanding of defensive skills is also to attack. If you teach Manny to counterpunch, he will lose, what he has to know because Morales is taller and has a reach advantage is to learn to blast quickly and dodge and blast again, in simple terms he has to sustain his attack until it gets the corresponding damage.. Knocking out Morales is not a problem but only if Manny can launch his devastating punch. My prognosis is if Manny can knock down Morales in three rounds via a head punch, then Manny can win via knockout in later rounds or via unanimous decision. This prediction is based on what I have observed before in so many of Pac's fights, Manny has a devastating lancer punch, a quick darting simple punch but it has behind it all his body weight and if it lands it could make the difference. Two or three of these punches to the head Morales will never be the same. If Manny can not knock down Morales in 3 via head punches, Manny will lose.

Kimo Morrison:

Oh...have more faith than that in your man; he dismantled MAB in an 11 round fight that was a showcasing of his arsenal.

angelo: What if the fight ends in a draw? will there be an immediate rematch or will both fighters pick another fight first before having a rematch?

Kimo Morrison:

I would think that both would want to re-match right away.

erol ruiz: If ever manny will dominate the superfeather weight division, will he still have the same strength and speed to fight the lightweight guys? What should be his preparations to compete with these heavier guys? tnx.

Kimo Morrison:

He should not move to light weight for a couple years-AT LEAST- if at all...He will certainly succumb to devastating loss if he moves up too quickly as many fighters do today. He should stay put or even move back down after this fight. There are MANY fights for him at lower weights that would be less punishing on his body physically...Chi/Larios/JMM/Rafi Marques/and the list could go on from there.

orion noypi: im just curious how much more talk will everybody be doin' but the case is everybody is underestimating Erik..IF el terible will step into the ring with his A game, pac can have some trouble ending it...mow powa!!

Kimo Morrison:

I think you are right! Erik is getting seriously overlooked in this fight.

Camper Hiker: Who do you think has the advantage in the early rounds and who do you think has the advantage on the later rounds?

Kimo Morrison:

EM early adv. Pac late adv. EM early cause he can really dictate the onset of this fight early if he does it right. Also, I think that EM holds early advantage cause unlike Manny, nobody really knows what to expect from him early and tends to be more tactical early.

pso_junior: I have been reading your articles and it's always been very refreshing to read your non-bias and objective opinions and insights on these two great warriors . . . Eric and Pac.

Kuddos and Props to you KIMO and your staff . . . you are an asset to this sports. More power!

Kimo Morrison:

Thanks brother, I am glad that somebody out there notices that I am being extremely UN-bias with my explanation of how I see this fight unfolding.

joey@Leo: we think that if erik will not use his mind in fighting manny erik will hit the canvas very often. It's the time for the filipino great boxers to be recognize worldwide....MABUHAY!!!!

Kimo Morrison:

Well I don't know about "boxers" in the plural sense of the word but you have ONE damn good fighter in the market right now!

Keoki Cadiz: Howzit braddah Kimo! Let me first say that I enjoy your hard-hitting, straight-forward approach to analyzing boxing. It is a like a breath of fresh air coming down from the Koolaus when compared to the biased-stench of other boxing writers in mainstream media.

Like everyone, I excitedly await the Pac-Morales fight. I enjoy the talent and courage of both class fighters. However, I have been reading in other sites, that a potential side issue to this fight is the emergence of fighters from the Pacific region as a source of untapped talent for the world of boxing, and that Pacquiao's popularity, and victory in this fight, would pave the way for other fighters from these countries to challenge traditional Mexican dominance in the lower weightclasses. Is there any truth to this? What is your opinion? I ask this because I was not awared of any existing obstacle for Pacific-based fighters to get exposure given that there has been many, including Filipino fighters from the gyms of Hawaii like Andy Ganigan and Jesus Salud, to make it well into boxing elites.

Keep up the good work! Much Aloha!

Kimo Morrison:

I think this to be an interesting question because it is not something that is brought up often in how different ethic groups dominate different segments of the weight scale. Now I wrote an article on this very subject some time ago and if you want will send you an archived copy of it once I find it. Just email your information directly to me via the site and I will look it up as it is something that I find interesting. That being said, I don't think for a minute that the boxing world works like Hollywood in putting up racial roadblocks and think that some writers are stupid enough to think that Manny is the first Pacific rooted fighter to gain such exposure and that we will see an influx now that he has "paved the way" so to speak. It just so happens that the Asian dominated divisions are filled with men so small nobody cares to watch them fight as well as the fact that MOST Pacific-based fighters that show ANY amount of promise choose to fight in MMA (mixed martial arts) as most Pacific-based fighters come from some sort of martial arts background and tend to be more of the well rounded fighter as opposed to only stand up. They use diverse skills in a totally different sport though we may see more cross over fighters who come from MMA to compete in pro boxing. Pac just happens to be an Asian fighter that is "EXCITING", has "POWER" will fight in America...and chooses to fight as a boxer and not fight in UFC style competitions. I was back on the islands in August and spoke with Jeff McKee who is a unknown world class boxing trainer who helps with the Olympians and almost ALL of his fighters that I spent time with like to fight MMA rather than box for the more realistic fighting experience. There have been and will continue to be great boxers coming from the Pacific rim, but until MMA loses popularity I would not expect a huge influx of Asian or Pacific island fighters to just start emerging from the wild blue yonder! Mahalo bradda, can't wait to converse with you in more depth.

caloy bagaslao: who do you believe would be the winner of this fight? are you a mexican fan??

Kimo Morrison:

I am a fight fan...and I think Pac will win.

rickzon celiz: first of all, i am a big fan of both fighters because of their warrior mentality who doesn't back off from a fight but if either of them wins how would you rate them as the greatest fighter of all time in their division? top 5 all time?

Kimo Morrison:

I would say that Manny still has to be proven in all time ranking, but Erik has got to be in the top 5 atleast.

ydhnar: i see the history -- a simple philli fighter will conquer the boxing arena. one strong left hook will amaze the world of boxing

Kimo Morrison:

If it is a left hook I will send you 5 dollars...if it is a strait left you send me 5...okay?

kenneth: i think MP will surely win this one bec he is s great fighter and have the courage to face fear.EM will surely be k.o in this fight.......... go Manny pacquiao beat him to death

Kimo Morrison:

I hope not to death! and I am sure that Pac would not hope that either, but a beating none the less I hope to see.

jojo c.: I am so excited to see the fight this coming march. I predict manny will give his best to knock out eric in the early rounds. he is like mike tyson that can knock out a guy with only one shot. so for all of you eric fans, better get started praying for your hero because his doom is getting nearer. go manny! i am proud to be a filipino!!!!

Kimo Morrison:

He didn't knock JMM out with one!

Philip Cruz: Manny Pacquiao will show the world the stuff Filipinos are made of. A knockout of EM will come by the 6th round and it would be a left uppercut which will do the trick. The PACman from Pacland has arrived!!! Eric Morales will be Eric More-of-Less!!!

Kimo Morrison:

Funny... "Eric More-of-less" I like it! Good luck to your man...
